Accessibility Overview

We are continuously improving the accessibility of ADLNet.gov.  Many features enhance the accessibility.  We review our Web site internally and ask users with disabilities to submit any issues to Ask the Experts.

Accessibility Features

• ADLNet.gov avoids the use of JavaScript when possible, because it can create poor usability.
• ADL transcribes and captions our most frequently viewed videos. 

Accessibility Issues

Due to the large amount of time and cost associated with captioning, some videos are not captioned. However, all videos that are published directly to a page are captioned and made accessible.

ADLNet.gov Tools

• ADLNet.gov is best-viewed using browsers with a minimum of HTML Level 3 compliance. We recommend the following browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0 (or higher), Netscape 6.0 (or higher) and Opera 7 (or higher).

• Adobe's Flash and Shockwave Player http://www.adobe.com/downloads/.
• Download WinZip software at http://www.winzip.com/ to unzip some of ADLNet.gov's downloadable files.
• Download Windows Media Player to view videos streamed from ADLNet.gov at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/default.aspx.  
• Download the Media Access Generator (MAGpie) software at http://ncam.wgbh.org/webaccess/magpie to provide the ability to synchronize videos with their respective translations.
• Use Microsoft Office to view some downloadable information featured on ADLNet.gov.
